• Governor injured in Parkway crash Gov. Jon S. Corzine underwent surgery last night after a
  car accident in which he broke his left leg, sternum, collarbone, six ribs on each side and a lower
  vertebra, state police and other government officials said. He was in critical but stable condition at

• Enviro group puts NJ greenhouse gases at record high The state is producing more heat-

• Highlands Council member resigns Bernardsville Councilman Mikael Salovaara resigns from
  the Highlands Council leaving board two members short as it moves toward adopting a regional
  master plan for much of North Jersey Star-Ledger

• R&D Coal fined almost $900,000 The owners of a Schuylkill County coal mine have been fined
  $874,500 for ''flagrant'' safety violations in an October 2006 explosion that killed a miner, federal officials

• PA called a culprit in global warming Pennsylvania created more carbon dioxide emissions than

  all but two other states in 2004, making it ''a big part of the global warming problem,'' according to an environmental group Morning Call

• City’s Catskill water gets 10-year approval After an exacting review that lasted several
  years, federal environmental officials have concluded that New York City’s upstate water supply
  is still so clean that it does not need to be filtered for another decade or longer NY Times 
   

• Study: NY State behind in pollution permits The state routinely fails to review the pollution
  permits of hundreds of factories, generating stations, sewage treatment plants and other operations
  that discharge contaminants into the state’s rivers and lakes, according to an enviro group’s report
