• Noted engineer is indicted as part of corruption probe Howard Schoor, 67, of Colts

  government contractors, is indicted by a federal grand jury on charges stemming from the

• Funds sought for brownfield remediation New Jersey could have as many as 400 lightly
  polluted sites -- eyesores such as former gas stations, dry cleaner shops, factories and waste
  dumps -- waiting to be cleaned up and redeveloped, according to environmentalists who are
  pressuring for changes to the way the state recycles the properties for communities to use

• Bill: Build no day care on tainted ground The Assembly unanimously passes a bill that
  would prevent day-care centers from being built on contaminated sites Inquirer

• SEPTA averts fare hikes - for now It will use money earmarked for projects to stave off
  a crisis for six months. But officials warn things will get much worse Inquirer

• Mild weather jump-starts I-99 cleanup Buoyed by spring-like weather, state transportation
  officials say they are moving ahead with environmental cleanup work at Skytop in Patton Twp
  as if the construction season were still on Centre Daily Times
   

• DEP issues permit for new coal mine Amfire Mining Co. gets permission to open a new
  underground coal mine in Cresson Township, Cambria County. The permit room-and-pillar mining
  in 2,929.4 acres of the Upper Freeport Coal Seam. The company also will use nearly 73 surface
  acres for water treatment facilities and other support activities PA-DEP
