NJ Politics 

  • Stem cell, open space borrowing mean big debt hike Gov. Jon S.   • A fourth nuclear reactor for New Jersey? While NJ enviros see little benefits in nuclear technology, the nuclear industry says it is crucial to combating global warming. At least 19 companies across the country have notified the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission of intent to apply for new nuclear reactors. PSEG is not one of them, although company officials say the infrastructure to support another reactor is already in place at  their Artificial Island site in Lower Alloways Creek Township and that they are considering an expansion  Bridgeton News

PA Environment

  • Cleanup account faces $$ squeeze PA state legislators are looking for ways to keep a state fund afloat that pays for the cleanup of contaminated sites Times Leader
     

  • DEP penalized Reliant Energy $120K The company draws a $120,000 fine for overfilling a residual waste landfill at its electrical generating plant in Taylor Township, Lawrence County, just south of New Castle PA-DEP

  • Rendell targets energy, bioscience to spark PA's economy Gov. Edward G. Rendell says Pennsylvania’s job count has reached an all-time high Gant Daily
