• For some, politics as usual on a solemn day U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez (D., N.J.) and
  his opponent, Republican Thomas H. Kean Jr., suspended campaign activities for 9/11 and
  U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum (R., Pa.) and his challenger, Bob Casey Jr., pulled their ads off
  television. But it was politics as usual on golf courses in Westampton and Trenton in New
  Jersey and Hollidaysburg in Pennsylvania, where political fund-raisers trumped political

• McGreevey to tell his story on 'Oprah' The interview will air Sept. 19, the same day
  McGreevey's political memoir, "The Confession," goes on sale Associated Press

• Plans to clean radioactive sites assailed as deficient ShieldAlloy Metallurgical Corp.
  accumulated a massive pile of radioactive material over 30 years of manufacturing in South
  Jersey. So did H. Hovnanian Industries, as it sifted metals out of the Pine Barrens 60 miles
  north. Now, both companies are closing up shop. And the debates over what to do about
